Cold-Formed Steel: CS/CMST Coiled Straps

CMSTC provides fastener slots for easy installation and coined edges. CS, CMST and CMSTC are continuous utility straps which can be cut to length on the job site. Packaged in lightweight (about 40 pounds) cartons.

Finish: Galvanized. Some products available in ZMAX® coating;. See Corrosion Information.

Installation:

Use all specified fasteners; some models have extra fastener holes. See General Notes.
Refer to the applicable code for minimum edge and end distances.
The table shows the maximum allowable loads and the screws required to obtain them. See footnote #1. Fewer screws may be used; reduce the allowable load by the code lateral load for each fastener subtracted from each end.

Gauge stamped on part for easy identification

Use half of the fasteners in each member being connected to achieve the listed loads.
For CMST straps: End Length (inches) = 1/2 total fasteners x 7/8" + 1" when all holes filled. Double length if only round holes filled.
For CMSTC16 straps: End Length (inches) = 1/2 total fasteners x 3/4" + 1" when all holes filled. Double length if only round holes filled.
For CS straps: End Length (inches) = 1/2 total fasteners + 1".
Total Cut Length = End Length + Clear Span + End Length.
Calculate the connector value for a reduced number of screws as follows:

Example: CMSTC16 on 54 mil with 24 screws:

Loads are based on lesser of steel strap capacity and 2001 AISI NAS fastener calculation.
