E-Z Base™/E-Z Mender™/E-Z Spike™ Fence Products

Replacing an entire fence can be an expensive and difficult task. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a line of products designed to help make repairing and reinforcing fence posts easy and economical. The E-Z Spike, E-Z Mender and E-Z Base offer simple solutions for all types of fence post projects.

E-Z Spike (Model No. FPBS44)

Allows easy installation of 4x4 wood posts without digging holes or pouring concrete
Can be used for a variety of applications where quick-to-install posts are needed

E-Z Mender (Model No. FPBM44E)

Allows easy repair of rotted or damaged 4x4 wood posts installed in concrete or dirt
Reinforces weakened wood posts without having to replace the post or the concrete
Sold individually. Use in pairs.

The E-Z Mender mending plates were sold in pairs (Model No. FPBM44) but are now being sold as individual pieces (Model No. FPBM44E). There is no change to the physical characteristics of the part itself. Note that we still recommend that these be used in pairs.

E-Z Base (Model No. FPBB44):

Allows easy installation of 4x4 wood posts on existing concrete

Material: 12 gauge

Finish: Black Powder Coat

Installation: See flier F-EZFPP.

Attach post to E-Z Spike or E-Z Base with 8-1/4" SDS screws or 1/4" HDG lag screws
and attach post to E-Z Mender using 6 HDG nails or screws per part.

E-Z Spike™ (FPBS44) To install the E-Z Spike, drive the spike 29" into the ground for full penetration using a short block. Take care to install the spike base plumb. Attach the post to the spike base using double-barrier coat or hotdip galvanized SDS screws, lag screws or bolts.		E-Z Base™ (FPBB44) Attach the E-Z Base to the existing concrete using suitable anchors. See Simpson's Anchoring and Fastening Systems catalog or www.simpsonanchors.com for anchoring options. Fasten the post to the base using double-barrier coat or hot-dip galvanized SDS screws or lag screws (screws and anchors not supplied).


E-Z Mender™ (FPBM44E) Remove dirt or debris from around the existing post. Drive the mender plate down along the post between the post and the dirt or concrete, ensuring that the plates are driven 11" into the ground for full penetration. Repeat on opposite side of the post. Fasten to the post using double-barrier coat or hot-dip galvanized fasteners (screws or nails). Fill the hole around the post with concrete. May be installed with Strong-Drive® SD Structural-Connector screws. Click here for details.

The FB24Z features a ZMAX® coating for additional corrosion resistance. See details.
